Designed
for hot press metal forming applications, the Maxi-Zone High
Temperature Insertion Heater produces continuous sheath temperatures
to 2000°F/1095°C. An Inconel® 600 sheath
allows efficient operation at extreme temperatures. Because of
this capability, many applications will observe considerable
performance improvements with the Maxi-Zone versus other heat
sources.
A unique feature of the Maxi-Zone is to provide
two or three independently controllable areas along the sheath
length. Precise temperatures can be produced in every location
by arranging the process in multiple zones and monitoring and
controlling each separately.
The Maxi-Zone's primary heat transfer method
is by radiation. The continuing oxidation of the sheath and inside
walls of the hole at these temperatures produce excellent transfer
of heat. This emissivity improves with usage, allowing sheath
and process temperatures to be nearly identical. Diameters are
substantially undersized versus standard cartridge heater applications.
A .935" diameter Maxi-Zone would be applied in a 1"
or larger hole. A Maxi-Zone is easily removed and replaced. Standard
Maxi-Zone diameters are .495", .685" and .935"
with lengths from 18 inches to 15 feet. .210" diameter Inconel®
600 sheath tubular heaters are available for heating ceramic
presses in similar applications.
